To put the police under trusteeship

The Black Coalition of Quebec deplores the lack of training of certain police officers who put the lives of innocent citizens in danger.
The coroner’s inquest into the death of Freddy Villanueva leaves us perplexed. We find several cases where death is caused by the police or serious injuries there is a lack of seriousness and professionalism in the treatment of these cases. How can one explain that a police officer who speaks about street gangs is unable to describe a gang member? And often in the case of death or serious injuries, the police are unable to give reasons for the use of their fire-arm. In all these cases there is a lack of transparency in the manner these cases are treated.
Accordingly, we have concluded that certain police officers are not able to fulfill their mandate adequately that is to ensure the protection and the defence of the rights of citizens to equal justice. For this reason, we ask once more, in the interest of the whole community that the minister of Public Security put the police department and all its administration under trusteeship.
